Chapter Six

Troy

I shake my head again and chuckle. I can't believe she thought I would just ditch her after what happened last night. I owned her body, but it looks like she’s new to love so I’m just going to have to work harder to own her heart. I smile at that, I can’t wait to prove it to her; I love a challenge.

“What are you smiling about?” She asks me from the passenger seat. We finished breakfast quickly then got going to get my baby girl.

“Just thinking about you. Last night.” I tell her wiggling my eyebrows.

“Oh gosh, stop. Your making me blush.” She tells me covering her face while I laugh.

We pull up to the gates surrounding Rosie May’s house. I’ve only been here one other time, but the place is cool as fuck. I get to the gate and hit the buzzer.

A voice comes through and I can tell by the rough tone its Renee’s man Shadow, “Come on through Troy, your girl is ready to see you. She's been bouncing up and down all mornin’.”

Even with his rough tone, I can hear the smile in his voice. I pull through and make my way to the very end of the road where their house sits. They have made their own little community here and it's a beautiful sight.

Before I have a chance to get to Halle’s door, Lane is barreling towards me. I swing her up in my arms as she signs, “Daddy, I missed you so much.”

I hold her in one arm and sign with the other, “I missed you too princess, but did you have a fun time with Rosie May?

“Yeah, so much fun, we baked cookies, watched movies, painted our nails..” She trails off signing when she catches sight of Halle. She turns back to me and begins signing at a rapid pace, “Oh my gosh daddy, you brought the elf with you? Is she here to see me?”

Before she can work herself up, I sign to her, “This little elfs name is Halle and she is a friend of Daddies.”

“Can she be a friend of mine too?” She asks me and I swear my heart melts.

Before I can reply, Halle is tapping Lane on the shoulder to get her attention and she starts to sign, “I would love nothing more than to be your friend.”

Lane bounces up and down in my arms until I finally let her down. She runs up to Halle’s legs and gives her a big hug before bouncing back to the car, climbing in and getting buckled into her carseat. I can see the emotion on Halle’s face before she turns and gets into the car not wanting me to see it. I just smile and wave to Rosie May, Renee, and Shadow.

“Anytime Rosie May wants to come over, or y'all want a date night, just let me know. Lane would love the company, she doesn't have many friends willing to learn ASL.” I yell to them.

“We would love that.
